Masonry repair works are progressing well at All Saints Church, Stand. The building is Grade I listed and requires both internal and external repairs.
The repair work includes the dismantling and rebuilding of the tower pinnacles, the removal of corroded iron fixings with associated masonry repairs and the renewal of the stone louver blades to the belfry windows. Structural steel work to the tower will also form part of the project, with two new stainless steel rings being fitted internally, all of which will be carried out by Heritage Conservation Restoration Ltd.
Other works involve repairs to the rotten floors and a complete restoration of the four clock faces and mechanism.
The project architects are Lloyd Evans Prichard and is part funded by Heritage Lottery Fund. The contract value is £250,000 and the project is expected to last 32 weeks.
