After the successful completion of Phase 1 works in 2016 which saw a complete re-roof to the Nave and internal re-ordering works, Heritage Conservation Restoration have commenced Phase 2 restoration work at St James Altham.
The second phase will include joinery and re-roofing of the Chancel Roof, and internal plaster repairs. Phase 2 is expected to run for 12 weeks, and both projects are in collaboration with IWA Architects.
The first stages are the construction of a full scaffold and temporary roof to ensure everything is watertight once the stripping commences. Internally, a scaffold crash deck will be installed, acting as a safety barrier and also providing access to allow for any repairs and decorations to be carried out to the ceiling.
The PCC of St James’ take pride on nurturing and protecting the Church, with the long-term goal being to pass it on to generations to come in a better state than it was found, and Heritage are proud to be part of this legacy.
